ERIC CHRISTOPHER PERRY-Tenor,
finished his Master of Music in Vocal Performance at ASU and now is
pursuing his second Masters Degree in Choral Conducting at University of

MICHAEL BRYCE, JR. - Tenor, Michael is a Christian artist from Mesa, AZ. His debut album "Made New," was released in August of 2010 on iTunes and other national distributors. He is currently working towards his Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performace from Arizona St. University, studying under David Britton. He has sung all over the United States and loves guest leading worship at Christian churches. He has recently been traveling to promote his debut album. He is also on staff as the Worship Leader at Centerstage Church, in East Mesa, AZ. Michael graduated from Red Mountain High School in 2009. And, he recently won $5,000 for winning a songwriting contest sponsored by the Ellen Degeneres show. See it here!

JENNY SMOLNIK - Alto, is currently employed with ASU’s Research Operations. She sings with the Arizona Deseret Choir, directed by her husband, Carric Smolnik. They look forward to continuing to do music together for many years to come.
STEVE ROUK
- Bass, is a junior at Arizona State University studying mathematics and
philosophy, but with a love for music. He has been in choir most of his
life—from church to school to other groups—as well as participating in
musical theater in high school. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Steven
came to Arizona for college and quickly began seeking out vocal
ensembles like Men's Chorus, the Choral Union, and Heatwave. He is
currently focusing on his studies, his Community Assistant position, and
promoting his two-person band, While We're Up."
ALYSON FRIESEN
- Alto. Upon completing her Master of Music-Music Theater Performance
degree in 2010, Alyson accepted the offer to be the Contemporary Worship
Leader at Love of Christ Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ. Leading worship
is an utter joy every week! In the future, you may see her get back
onstage. Most recently, she was the crude Dolly Tate in Annie Get
Your Gun at the Hale Theatre. Soon, she plans to record a variety
of jazz standards with jazz pianist Paul Tipei.
JOSHUA
HILLMANN
- Bass. A St. Louis native, Josh received his Bachelor of Music
degree from the University of Kansas and his Master of Music degree
from Arizona State University, where he is currently working toward
his DMA in piano performance. He has won many awards as a pianist –
most recently the award for “Most Outstanding Arizona Pianist” at
the fourth USASU Bösendorfer International Piano Competition. As a
singer, he was a member of the Kansas City Chorale, a professional
choir, while attending KU, and recently toured with them to Korea as
part of the Incheon International Choir Festival. Last season he
also traveled to southern Florida to sing with the professional
choir Seraphic Fire for an all-Russian concert series. As soloist he
has been featured with The Phoenix Symphony and the American Bach
Festival as well as numerous solos as a member of ASU’s Chamber
Singers, Symphonic Chorale, Herberger Singers, and Heatwave, as well
as the KU Chamber Choir, Jazz Singers and the college a cappella
group Genuine Imitation, for which he also served as Music Director.
This season he can also be heard singing with the Grammy
award-winning Phoenix Chorale, the ASU Symphonic Chorale and as
soloist at Church of the Beatitudes United Church of Christ. To hear

Carmel
Richards – Soprano,
is in her senior year at Arizona State
University and will graduate in May with a degree in Choral Music
Education. Throughout high
school and college she has led the worship team at her church, Open
Door Fellowship. For two
years she studied under Dr. Craig Peterson who is the director of
choirs at Mesa Community College. The focus was on jazz performance,
conducting and choral music. She is currently the director for
Camelback Bible Church’s children’s choir, and aspires to continue a
career as a choral conductor after graduation.
In more recent news, Carmel has begun planning her wedding in
July to Mr. Brian Hanson.
Jerron Jorgensen - Tenor, is a recent graduate of South Dakota State University, who is currently in his Master's study at Arizona State in Vocal Performance. He received top honors at the South Dakota Music Teachers’ Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the SDSU Aria & Concerto collegiate voice competitions as well as the 2009 Lorraine Bruce Award for Vocal Music Excellence within the music department at SDSU. Including the roles of Lucky (Dames at Sea), Tup Tim (The King and I), King Kaspar (Amahl and the Night Visitors), Brack Weaver (Down in the Valley), Père (Les Chemins de l'Amour) and John Styx (Orphée aux Enfers) and recently played Lieutenant Ian Shaw in Arizona State University's Lyric Opera Theatre production of The Secret Garden.
Evan Tyler Wilson, - Tenor,
can
be seen this spring at MCC in their production of Spelling Bee,
and at ASU in The Best Little Whorehous in Texas. Evan is a
Sagittarius and sophomore at Arizona State University with a
double major in Music Theatre Performance and Secondary
Education (Mathematics). Evan has received Zoni Awards for his
portrayals of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables: School Edition,
Jack in Into the Woods, and Man 1 in Songs for a New
World. Evan has appeared onstage at ASU as Pepe in West
Side Story and Mitch Mahoney in Spelling Bee. He
would love to thank his fellow jazzers, Greg, Family, Ms.Tanj,
Judy, Dale, and the big man upstairs for blessing him. “I want
to be remembered as someone who did the best he could with the
talent he had.”

Alyssa Chiarello – Alto, is a senior Musical Theatre major at Arizona State University. She was last seen in Light in the Piazza at Phoenix Theatre, with Lyric Opera Theatre in Secret Garden as Martha, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. She was also seen in Curtains (vs. Jessica Kranshaw, Nikki Harris & ensemble), and Lyric Opera Theatre’ s productions: Luisa Fernanda, Giulio Cesare, Don Pasquale, and Suor Angelica. She has also recorded lead vocals with Ambient Skies Productions.
Hannah Bentley – Soprano,
is very happy to be a part
of Heatwave! Most recently, she was seen in The Rocky Horror Show
at ASU as "Columbia," and ensemble in Sweeney Todd and West
Side Story. Other recent appearances include The Secret Garden
and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Before ASU, she
played “Marmee” in Little Women, “Rosie” in Bye Bye Birdie,
and “Baker’s Wife” in Into the Woods at Valley Youth Theater. She
is a fourth year voice performance student of David Britton. She thanks
Greg for giving her this opportunity, her friends for their endless
love, and her family for their infinite support!

John Gibney – Bass, is an 18 year old freshman from Arizona. He sings Bass/Baritone in multiple ASU choral groups and has been in various honor choirs through out his high school career, including ACDA, Arizona State Regionals, and 4 years of All-State choirs. John is currently studying as a vocal performance major and has performed in numerous plays throughout the years. He is known as being quite the ham whose heart and passion is always in the music.

Lauren Gasic – Soprano, is thrilled to be a member of Heatwave. Having recently transferred from the University of Arizona, she is now continuing her education at ASU as a Music Theatre performance major. She is highly involved in ASU’s Lyric Opera Theatre productions as well as musicals outside of school. She recently was seen playing the role of Zaneeta in The Music Man, a joint collaboration between Phoenix Theatre and the Phoenix Symphony. Other show credits include: Love and Human Remains (Candy), Gypsy (Agnes), Sweeney Todd (ensemble), Turn of the Screw (Flora) and more. She is currently working on the role of Mary in ASU’s production of The Secret Garden, which opens in November. She would like to thank her family and friends for all their love and support, as well as her voice teacher, David Britton, for his wonderful guidance.

Rachel Morgan – Alto, is a Junior Musical Theatre undergraduate at ASU and is a student of Professor Anne Elgar Kopta. She is very excited to be a part of the 2010-2011 Heatwave Vocal Jazz Ensemble! She was last seen singing in ASU’s Lyric Opera Theatre production of The Rocky Horror Show as a “Phantom”. Some of her past favorite singing roles include “Rita La Porta” in Lucky Stiff and “Snoopy” in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Rachel would like to thank Heatwave Director Gregory Amerind and everyone in the ensemble for all their hard work. She would also like to thank her family and friends for always supporting her.

Craig Payne – Bass, is a 4th year Vocal Performance student at ASU. He's performed solo and ensemble works ranging from Opera to Jazz and everything in between. Having an affinity for trombone at his core, he's always been a jazz musician (when he wasn't rehearsing with the marching band). Starting with jazz band when he was 13 and picking up jazz choirs through to state programs from there, it was a love for jazz that kindled the ideals he holds for jazz and ensemble singing that bring him to where he is today.
Erika Jacobs -
Soprano,
is currently a sophomore majoring in
theatre, and is ecstatic to be a part of Heatwave!
She performed in MCC's jazz ensemble in 2010, and
also participated in her high school jazz ensemble
before graduating in 2009. Erika enjoys performing
musically as well as theatrically, and was most
recently a bride in ASU's Big Love. She can
also be seen as Irene Molloy in Hello Dolly
in the spring. She would like to thank the entire
group for being so welcoming, as well as her family
and friends for their encouragement.

Drew Nichols - Tenor, is a music composition major. His first musical skills developed in musical theatre and piano lessons. Since then, he's focused mostly on saxophone and jazz piano. He currently participates in Heatwave, Schola Cantorum and the jazz piano studio at ASU. Watch for his name in the writing credits on the silver screen and Broadway playbills in the next few years.
